Abstract

Shifting from short-term small timber production forests to developing big-size timber Acacia forests is the tendency of many localities, including A Luoi district, Thua Thien - Hue province. Nevertheless, this transformation is often influenced by many factors. The study has identified three main groups of factors affecting the development of big - size timber Acacia plantations, including (1) Natural (area, slope, approach distance); (2) People (education level, afforestation techniques, afforestation benefits, market knowledge, sources of information for the local inhabitants) and (3) Financial (household income, main types of household income). Based on the analysis of the above factors, the study proposes a number of key solutions to support the development of big - size timber Acacia plantations, including planning a big - size timber Acacia plantation area suitable to natural conditions, guiding the households to change their techniques from small - size timber afforestation to big-size timber afforestation, assisting in finding capital for production, supporting the development of high - quality seed sources, strengthening forestry extension activities, and supporting the market.

Chuyển hóa rừng sản xuất gỗ nhỏ ngắn ngày sang phát triển rừng keo gỗ lớn đang là hướng đi của nhiều địa phương trong đó có huyện A Lưới, tỉnh Thừa Thiên Huế. Kết quả nghiên cứu đã đưa ra các tiềm năng chính để phát triển trồng rừng keo gỗ lớn bao gồm: (1) yếu tố về tự nhiên (diện tích, độ dốc, khoảng cách tiếp cận); (2) yếu tố về con người (trình độ học vấn, kỹ thuật trồng rừng, lợi ích trồng rừng, hiểu biết thị trường, các kênh cung cấp thông tin cho người dân); (3) yếu tố về tài chính (thu nhập của hộ gia đình, các loại thu nhập chính của hộ). Trên cơ sở phân tích các tiềm năng, nghiên cứu đề ra một số giải pháp chính nhằm hỗ trợ phát triển trồng rừng keo gỗ lớn bao gồm: Quy hoạch vùng trồng keo gỗ lớn phù hợp với điều kiện tự nhiên, tăng cường hoạt động khuyến lâm, hỗ trợ tìm nguồn vốn sản xuất, đa dạng loại hình sinh kế đặc biệt từ nghề truyền thống của địa phương, hỗ trợ thị trường.
