Study on restoration of local wax gourd varieties aimed to improve productivity and quality of specialty local wax gourd varieties of Son La province. The restoration process was conducted through 4 crops seasones in Chieng Mai commune, Mai Son district, Son La province, of which the first crop was forced pollination; then the wax gourd population was to pollinate freely subsequent seasons and was evaluated for selection. As a result, in crop season 1 (Spring Summer crop of 2022), 230 good fruits (of 230 individuals) were selected; in crop season 2 (Autumn Winter crop of 2022), 203 fruits were selected (from 203 individuals); in crop 3 season (Spring Summer crop of 2023) selected 192 fruits (of 192 individuals); in crop season 4 (Autumn -Winter crop of 2023) selected 396 fruits (of 202 individuals). Seeds from individuals were collected, stored in separate bags, stored in cold storage, and then mixed to create original seeds (pre-basic seeds).
