This study integrates field survey data with satellite imagery, including Landsat 8 OLI, Sentinel-2 and ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 radar data, to assess forest biomass, carbon stocks and CO₂ sequestration in the Nui Chua World Biosphere Reserve. Radar backscatter coefficients and texture parameters, together with NDVI derived from optical imagery, were used to develop a forest biomass estimation model. The performance of forest biomass estimation models based on single-source and multi-source satellite imagery was evaluated using error metrics to compare model performance and identify the optimal approach. The results indicate that the integrated model combining satellite data from ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 and Sentinel-2 achieved an accuracy exceeding 83%, outperforming single-source models due to its ability to integrate spectral and structural information. Based on this model, a biomass stock distribution map of the study area was developed, with the total forest carbon stock estimated at approximately 1.36 million tons, equivalent to about 4.97 million tons of absorbed CO₂. The results demonstrate that integrating multi-source remote sensing data enhances the accuracy of biomass and carbon stock estimation. This study provides a scientific basis for forest resource management and conservation, while supporting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets and progress toward carbon neutrality.
