This study aims to develop a workflow to monitor and evaluate LST dynamics in Ho Chi Minh City during the 2020 - 2025 period, based on the integration of remote sensing data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The utilized data consists of Landsat 8 imagery representing both the dry and rainy seasons. LST was retrieved using the thermal band, coupled with image calibration and normalization. Additionally, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was employed to analyze the role of vegetation cover in the spatial distribution of surface temperature. The findings indicate that high LST is primarily concentrated in areas with high building density and impervious surfaces, such as the urban core, major transportation corridors and industrial zones. Conversely, areas with dense vegetation cover, including parks, riparian corridors and suburban regions, maintained significantly lower temperatures. Furthermore, the study elucidated the seasonal patterns of LST. The average temperature during the dry season exhibited significant fluctuations; in the 2020 - 2021 period, dry season LST values ranged from 28.85 - 28.95°C, before increasing to 32.01 - 32.07°C in the 2022 - 2023 period. During the rainy season, LST values were more stable, ranging from 27.04 - 29.53°C between 2020 and 2022. The 2023 - 2025 period recorded a decreasing trend in LST, with surface temperatures predominantly remaining between 28°C and 29°C. The consistent negative correlation between NDVI and LST further highlights the critical role of green infrastructure in regulating the urban microclimate.
