The rice research collection comprised 300 accessions collected from different ecological regions in several northern provinces. Among these, 282 accessions (94.0%) were of medium growth duration, while the remaining accessions exhibited short-and long-duration growth periods. The accessions showed a high level of diversity in morphological and agronomic traits. The grain husk color of the collection was highly variable, including white, light brown, brown, red, partially purple and purple. Most accessions had large grain size and several accessions exhibited high yield potential. The evaluation results also indicated that changes in cultivation ecological conditions can alter certain morphological characteristics of genetic resources, particularly those collected from the mountainous provinces of Northern Vietnam.
